King of Kings AA/GS Show.. K.S.'s Celebration of Life

King of Kings AA/GS show..! K.S.'s celebration of life tour... Pirrone & Ellershaw racing is proud to announce that it will team up with the S&S Race Team to run the King of Kings AA/GS show..a celebration of K.S. Pittmans life. The blown gassers of the early sixties were the grandfathers to today's Pro Mod class. Back in the 1960's, the AA/Gas Supercharged cars were the fastest and quickest cars with doors. K.S. was the winning-est driver in that time period. In 1965 he held every record possible, including, the NHRA, AHRA and the STD 1320 titles.

K.S. was recognized as one of the best drivers in the country and was one the very first touring professionals. K.S. would crisscross the country match racing the biggest names in drag racing, names like Stone Woods and Cook, Big John Mazmania, Jack Merkel and Jim Oddy. In 1967 he built one of the first fiberglass 33 Willys and recorded the very first "8" second pass ever run by a car with doors on gas!

K.S. passed away earlier this year, but his memory will live forever. The Pirrone & Ellershaw race team did a very accurate recreation of the beautiful Willys and will tour the country doing exhibition match races with other period correct AA/GS cars. For a complete schedule go to Rocky's Blog

NEWS

Pirrone and Ellershaw ready for the 2010 season. Four cars to do battle in nostalgia action.

The Pirrone & Ellershaw race team will be fielding five different race cars in the 2010 race season! The Harley Davidson "Screamin Eagle" 77 Trans Am will be back in full force. Entertaining fans will be the number one goal, Tom Fox returns as the "Super Tuner", while Bill Ellershaw and Rick "Pappy" Stief will share the crew chief duties.

Long time crew members, Dan Ellershaw, Jack Joyce and Michelle Fiel return for another season. The Pirrone & Ellershaw team will be fielding two period correct AA/GS Willys in the Jim Oddy shootout series. Both the Boss Hydro and K.S. Pittman 33 Willys will feature iron hemis, including cylinder blocks and heads.

Joining the two classical Willys will be the newly restored "Big Time Memories" 1941 Willys. The Big Time Memories will be powered by a nitro fueled Keith Black hemi that was built in-house. Look for big flames and looooong smoky burnouts from this beautiful car.

Last but not least, the team will be displaying the Soul Survivor Nitro coupe at selected events in 2010. The beautiful Competition coupe was painted in house, by Rick "Pappy" Stief and is sure to be a winner on the show circuit.

In Loving Memory of K.S. Pittman

Your final quarter mile journey has brought you home and set you free. Your loving memory will be cherished forever.

Drag racing lost one of its "True" legends on Sunday, January 31st. K.S. "Tiger" Pittman passed away in Springfield Missouri. K.S. was without a doubt the "King" of the AA/GS supercharged gassers. K.S. was one of the first touring pros, traveling back and froth from California to Pennsylvania and all point in between. In perhaps the greatest decade of Drag Racing, K.S was the winingest driver in the United States. His 40 Willys coupe and later his two 33 Willys were all most unbeatable. First time I met K.S. was in 1968, my Dad and him use to match race back here in the east. I remember the first time they raced, it was like my Dad was racing the "King"....and thats exactly who K.S. was....the KING of AA/GS..! Over the next decades, I had a chance to be able to call K.S. a friend, and I cherish that. He was not only a legend, he was my hero. As hard as it is to know, he's gone, its comforting to know he's in a better place. I'm sure my Dad and K.S. will get chance to line up once again..................God Speed..K.S. RP
